Forward Deployed Engineer
Systems Engineer - Platform & Problem Solving

Do you want to help bridge the gap between today and the future - and play a key role in driving Saab's digital transformation? This is not a traditional developer role. It's a role for curious minds who enjoy variety, creativity and deep technical thinking.

Your role

As a Forward Deployed Engineer, you'll work close to our internal product teams, understand their challenges, and turn them into smart, scalable technical solutions. You'll explore new technologies, learn fast and help shape the foundations of future Saab systems.

What you'll do

• Work hands-on with complex technical problems across different product areas


• Build and improve shared platforms and components used throughout Saab


• Explore and apply technologies like AI, cloud, edge computing and real-time systems


• Collaborate with engineers, architects and domain experts


• Turn ambiguous challenges into clear, elegant solutions


• Influence technical direction and long-term platform strategy

About you

You're someone who enjoys understanding how things work - and how they could work better. You learn quickly, think in systems and like solving problems that don't have obvious answers. Your background might be in software development, systems engineering, data engineering, research engineering or something else entirely. What matters is how you think.

You bring

• Strong programming ability (language doesn't matter - thinking does)


• Hands-on use of AI to solve technical problems


• Curiosity and a desire to explore new technologies


• Ability to break down complex problems


• A collaborative mindset and willingness to share knowledge


• Experience from building or working with technical systems

Your role

As a Systems Engineer, you'll work at the intersection of software, architecture and system design. You'll help us understand how complex systems behave, how they scale and how we can make them better.

• Design and evolve shared software platforms used across Saab


• Analyse system behaviour, performance and interactions


• Work with technologies like AI, cloud, distributed systems and real-time environments


• Collaborate with architects, developers and domain experts


• Turn system-level insights into practical improvements


• Contribute to long-term technical direction and platform strategy

About you

You think in systems, patterns and interactions. You enjoy understanding the whole picture - not just one component. You're curious, analytical and comfortable navigating complexity. Your background might be in software engineering, systems engineering, embedded systems, data engineering or similar.

You bring

• Solid programming experience


• Hands-on use of AI to understand and improve systems


• Ability to reason about system behaviour and architecture


• Curiosity and willingness to learn new technologies
