Do you want to help bridge the gap between today and the future - and play a key role in driving Saab's digital transformation? This is not a traditional developer role. It's a role for curious engineers who thrive in new environments, enjoy variety, and are motivated by creating real impact.

Your role
As a Forward Deployed Engineer, you'll partner with product teams across Saab to solve complex technical challenges and accelerate innovation. You will build solutions, introduce new technologies and platforms, and help teams successfully adopt modern engineering practices.

The role combines hands-on software engineering with technical leadership, enabling both technology and people to move forward.

What you'll do

• Work hands-on with complex technical challenges across different product areas
• Partner with product teams to understand their needs and turn them into scalable technical solutions
• Build and improve shared platforms, tools, and components that enable reuse across Saab
• Explore and apply technologies such as AI, cloud, edge computing, and real-time systems
• Enable teams to adopt and successfully apply modern technologies, platforms, and engineering practices in real product environments
• Help establish new ways of working that increase speed, quality, and collaboration
• Turn ambiguous challenges into clear, practical solutions
• Influence technical direction and long-term platform strategy

Your profile
You enjoy working where technology, innovation, and real-world impact meet. You're someone who likes understanding complex systems, exploring new possibilities, and turning ideas into practical solutions. You combine strong engineering skills with curiosity and a pragmatic mindset. While your background may be in software engineering, systems engineering, data engineering, platform engineering, or a related field, what matters most is your ability to solve complex problems, navigate ambiguity, and help others move forward.

You are comfortable taking ownership of technical challenges, collaborating with diverse stakeholders, and balancing hands-on engineering with enabling long-term success for teams and products.

What you'll bring
We're looking for engineers who have built a solid foundation through experience and are ready to apply it across a variety of technical challenges. You likely have:

• Several years of experience working with software or systems engineering in complex product or technology environments
• Experience designing, building, or evolving technical solutions that are used by others
• Familiarity with modern engineering practices such as cloud technologies, CI/CD, automation, platform engineering, or distributed systems
• An interest in how AI, data, and emerging technologies can create practical value
• The ability to break down complex problems and turn uncertainty into clear direction
• Strong collaboration skills and an eagerness to learn from and share knowledge with others

It's a bonus if you have experience with

• Cloud-native platforms and infrastructure
• AI/ML applications in real-world products
• Platform engineering and reusable building blocks
• Systems architecture and technical leadership
• Real-time, safety-critical, or highly regulated environments
